the photographer
I am Polish-American, born in the historic town of Krakow, Poland. My interest
in photography began when I was studying architecture in the 1970s. After graduating I worked as an architectural photographer rather than an architect.
In fact, creating photographic images has become my way of life...
In the 1980s I immigrated to the United States and settled in New York City.
Fascinated by the scale and diversity of the greatest city in the world, I started
exploring it with my cameras. Later I made a few photographic trips across
the country. I worked in photo labs and then in the Digital Imaging Unit
of the New York Public Library, photographing incredible library collections
while pursuing my independent projects.
It took many years to return to my old native Krakow and its historic architecture...
In the meantime I started shooting editorial photography. Presented here is
ASSISI: Living Faith - a book preview based on several visits to Italy starting in 2011.
These days I am specializing in architectural and documentary photography.
My current project includes a chain of medieval castles located along the Trail
of the Eagles' Nests in southern Poland. Many of them survive only as ruins but some have been recently restored.
I believe my photography can help bring those beautiful ruins into life...
